A History of Providing a Lifeline
for Vulnerable Seniors

Seva Food Bank plays a vital role in the lives of vulnerable families and seniors, offering a steady source of healthy, nourishing meals month after month.

Our journey began when hospitals, social workers, and community organizations reached out to us, seeking support for food-insecure seniors. Due to health and accessibility issues, as well as financial constraints, these seniors were struggling to receive appropriate nutrition.

Our Impact So Far

Meals (lunch and dinner) are provided 5 days a week throughout the year by a team of dedicated staff and volunteers. All services are provided without distinction and free of charge to seniors in need. We currently deliver over 60 hot meals a day, 5 days a week, and with your support, we aim to scale the program to address the growing need and reach more clients across the Peel region.

Our pilot program launched in 2023 provided seniors (who were Seva's existing clients) with hot lunch and dinner five days a week, delivered to their homes. Menus were developed by registered dietitian and nutritionists. After the pilot’s success, Seva Food Bank continues to expand the program.
