Volunteering at Seva Food Bank is an opportunity to make a real difference while gaining valuable personal and professional experience. Whether you’re a student, a professional, or someone looking to give back, our individual volunteer program offers flexibility, purpose, and community impact. As a volunteer, you’ll have the chance to support families facing food insecurity, connect with like-minded people, and develop skills that last a lifetime. Below, you’ll find details on who can get involved, why volunteering with Seva is so rewarding, and the many ways you can lend a helping hand.

Who it's for:

Anyone aged 14+ who is looking to volunteer regularly but have complete control of their schedule based on their availability at one or both of our Seva Food Bank locations.

What we need help with:

Food sorting and shelf stocking – Help organize, sort, and stock donated items to keep our shelves full and accessible.
Client intake and assistance – Welcome clients, guide them through our services, and provide compassionate support.
Clean-up and food delivery preparation – Ensure our facilities are clean and help prepare food packages for delivery.
Special projects (as needed) – Participate in seasonal drives, community outreach events, and other unique initiatives.

What it Takes to Volunteer With SEVA

Commitment & Locations

Minimum Commitment:
No minimum commitment (we ask that you archive your account if you are no longer available to participate in shifts)

Shifts Available:

Malton Location: 2832 Slough Street, Mississauga

Wolfedale Location: 3413 Wolfedale Rd, Mississauga

Days: Wednesday 3pm- 8pm , Thursday 3pm to 8pm, Fridays 9am- 3pm

Age Requirement: 14+

How to Apply

Step 1:

Complete the [Volunteer Application Form – Individual], Proceed by completing the training Qualification modules. Note your user name and password to use each time you choose a shift or enter your attendance /hours completed.

Step 2:

Wait for approval (due to high demand, wait times apply)

Step 3:

Once approved, access our Volunteer Calendar and sign up for shifts

No, all training is provided onsite.

 Yes, you can select your preferred location and available shifts once approved.

 Yes, it is. You will be able to print your completed and approved hours from your account

Our current operations run Wednesday–Friday. However, we occasionally add special events.

Reference letters may be available for long-term volunteers, however hour confirmation forms are available in your Seva Account.
