Hunger Awareness Week is a growing movement to raise awareness about the solvable problem of hunger in Canada. Food banks across the country host events during Hunger Awareness Week to tell the story of the work they do and the stories of the hungry people in Canada who use food banks.
As members of the Mississauga Food Bank network, we were privileged to take part in Hunger Awareness week activities in Peel. On Tuesday, May 8, alongside volunteers from several of our partner food banks we distributed information about the problem of hunger and poverty in Canada at Mississauga GO stations. Seva Food Bank volunteers and staff were on site at Cooksville GO station, and got a chance to give out more than 400 information packages and have conversations with dozens of individuals.
Thanks again to our dedicated volunteers for all the great work!
